Teen therapy at Mindful Comeback Therapy helps teens who are struggling with school stress, grades, attendance, anxiety and big emotions. Rubina Gogna, Registered Psychotherapist, combines practical skills from CBT, DBT and ACT with deeper work on what is driving the struggle. Sessions are virtual anywhere in Ontario, or in person at our Ajax office.
Signs your teen might benefit from therapy
- Avoiding school, missing classes or falling behind
- Grades dropping, or pushing so hard they burn out
- Constant worry, panic or trouble sleeping
- Pulling away from friends or family
- Anger, shutdowns or emotions that feel out of proportion
- Low self esteem, perfectionism or harsh self talk
- Struggles with focus, organization or ADHD
How teen therapy works
We start with a free 15 minute consult with the parent or caregiver, and often the teen too. The first session gets to know your teen and what is going on. From there, sessions focus on skills your teen can actually use: calming their body, handling hard emotions, managing school pressure, and speaking up for themselves. When it helps, we bring in deeper work on the patterns behind the struggle.
Teens need to trust that therapy is their space. At the start, we agree together on what stays private and how parents stay informed, so everyone knows what to expect.
Support for parents
Parents are part of the picture. With your teen’s agreement, we can schedule parent check ins to share strategies you can use at home, especially around school avoidance, conflict and emotional regulation. Culture and family expectations matter too, and sessions are available in English, Hindi and Punjabi.
Frequently asked questions
What ages do you see?
I work with teens and young adults. Ask at your free consult whether therapy is a good fit for your child’s age and needs.
Does my teen have to want to come?
It helps, but it is not required to start. Many teens are unsure at first and warm up once they see therapy is not about being in trouble.
Will you tell me what my teen says?
Sessions are confidential so your teen can speak openly. We agree on how parents stay informed at the start, and safety concerns are always shared.
Is teen therapy virtual or in person?
Both. Virtual sessions are available anywhere in Ontario, and in person sessions are at our Ajax office.
How much does it cost?
Teen intake sessions are $290 and ongoing sessions are $200. Sliding scale spots are offered when available.
Is it covered by insurance?
Sessions are eligible for reimbursement through most extended health plans that cover a Registered Psychotherapist, including plans held by a parent. Receipts are provided after every session.
