ADHD and Neurodivergence

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and AuDHD

ADHD is not a lack of effort. It is a different way your brain manages attention, energy and emotion. Many people with ADHD spend years being called lazy, too much or not living up to their potential, and that leaves a lot of shame behind.

ADHD can show up as:

  • Starting many things and struggling to finish them
  • Procrastination, time blindness and missed deadlines
  • Feeling overwhelmed by everyday tasks
  • Big emotions that come on fast, including rejection sensitivity
  • Restlessness, impulsivity or zoning out
  • Burnout from masking and working twice as hard to keep up
Who I support
  • Adults with ADHD, including late diagnosis in your 20s, 30s or 40s
  • Inattentive, hyperactive impulsive and combined presentations of ADHD
  • Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)
  • AuDHD, when ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) show up together
  • Teens with ADHD who are struggling with school, grades or attendance
  • People who suspect they have ADHD and want support before or during an assessment

As a Registered Psychotherapist, I do not provide formal ADHD assessments or diagnosis. I can support you before, during and after an assessment with your doctor or a psychologist.

How we work on ADHD
  • Practical tools for focus, planning and follow through that fit your brain, not someone else’s
  • DBT skills for emotional regulation and rejection sensitivity
  • Shame and self esteem work to undo years of feeling not good enough
  • EMDR and inner child work for the painful experiences that often come with growing up undiagnosed
What to expect

Your first step is a free 15 minute phone consult. Sessions are virtual across Ontario, with in person sessions at my Ajax office. If medication is part of your plan, I am happy to work alongside your doctor.
