EMDR Therapy in Ajax and Across Ontario

EMDR therapy at Mindful Comeback Therapy helps people process memories and experiences that still feel live, even when they understand them logically. Rubina Gogna, Registered Psychotherapist trained in EMDR, uses it for trauma, anxiety and painful patterns that talk therapy alone has not shifted. Sessions are virtual anywhere in Ontario, or in person at our Ajax office.

What is EMDR?

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. While you briefly focus on a difficult memory, you follow bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or alternating taps. This helps your brain reprocess the memory so it feels less charged. You don’t need to describe every detail out loud.

What EMDR can help with

  • Trauma, PTSD and childhood experiences
  • Anxiety and panic tied to specific memories
  • Relationship hurt, infidelity and betrayal
  • Shame, self criticism and “I’m not enough” beliefs
  • Grief and loss
  • Experiences your body still reacts to, even years later

What to expect

EMDR is not something we jump into on day one. We start by understanding your history and building calming skills so you feel steady. Then we choose target memories together and process them at a pace that feels manageable. Each session ends with time to settle before you go back to your day.

I often combine EMDR with somatic work, so we pay attention to what your body is holding, not just your thoughts. Science first, feeling second.

Frequently asked questions

Can EMDR be done virtually?

Yes. EMDR can be done over secure video using eye movements or self tapping. Virtual sessions are available anywhere in Ontario.

How many EMDR sessions will I need?

It depends on what we are working on. A single event may take fewer sessions, while long standing patterns usually take longer. We review progress together regularly.

Is EMDR only for trauma?

No. It is best known for trauma, and it can also help with anxiety, shame and beliefs rooted in earlier experiences.

Will I have to talk about everything that happened?

No. EMDR does not require you to describe every detail. You stay in control of what you share.

How much does it cost?

Individual intake sessions are $290 and ongoing sessions are $200. Sliding scale spots are offered when available.

Is EMDR covered by insurance?

Sessions are eligible for reimbursement through most extended health plans that cover a Registered Psychotherapist. Receipts are provided after every session.
